My current work explores trauma and distress. This exploration is informed from my internal and external hypersensitivity. I am interested in tactile and textural experiences, as well as the exploration of my past memories and analysis of dreams.

Trauma and distress can fundamentally shape and/or affect significant changes to an individual. its subjective recollection allows for a transformation of meaning and association that can shift the perception and recollection of the experience from a negative experience, to a positive, maybe even transformative experience that may aid the individual and those around them.

I am exploring the conveying and messaging of my theme through fabrics, due to the material’s intrinsic property of holding memory through form. I’ve been especially keen on using calico fabric; a fabric that is commonly used in the preparatory or mock-up stages in fashion. The use of calico in my project highlights the colloquial understanding of drawing, where both drawing and calico are often conceived as a drafting media for a bigger work. Using both medias to present the final work would not only challenge these notions, but also foreground the immediacy of creation that both drawing and calico share.
